Comments: Palmeiro'd!

He apparanly tested positive for stanozolol, according to the AP - which isn't available in a suppliment. And to be honest, I wouldn't believe him even if it was. Unless he is a moron (or was counting on MLB to cover it up) he should have had every single damn suppliment tested to make sure there are no steroids in it.

I have no doubt that the MLB Union has tested and published a list of suppliments known to be safe. Want to take something not on the list? Maybe he should have sent it to a lab - I bet his team would have even paid for the test, if he didn't have the money.

Want to take a 'secret' suppliment, perhaps one that comes in Cream and Clear flavors? I have no sympathy for you.

It's crap like this, and the fact that the players union has tried to fight testing as much as possible, that kills my interest in baseball.

I want to like baseball, I really do. But then they go on strike. Then they have a steroid scandal. Then they don't, like rational people, embrace the toughest testing program around, to regain some credibility. These guys don't seem to realize that they can go the way of professional Hockey.

The only other sport that needs to clean itself up more than baseball is track and field. But nobody gives a rat's ass about track. Even so, I am just as cynical about baseball as I am about track. There is no way every single guy caught for steroid use in both sports is as innocent as he claims.

But Palmerio is more than a cheater. He's also a hypocrite, for the way he took the high road in the senate hearings. I haven't given up on baseball but sure won't defend it or apologize for it when someone rips it and wonders how I can follow it.

The frustrating thing is Palmerio will still get his millions and given people's short-term memory and penchant for forgiving celebrities, I bet he'll be in Cooperstown one day as well.
